Time Passed

A whole year almost--so much in this year explains why this blog has stayed the same. The muse is fickle and I am notoriously slow to share words in writing; in conversation, not so much. (Thankfully, Gavin does post on Instagram @WyliesWarriors).

Another birthday for Wylie approaches. As we walk through our days, and journey with other families like ours, we maintain a hushed spirit and a grateful one. The days with Wylie here are so holy. That is the best way I can describe it. Magical may be another good description.

Not only is she the most amazing person to behold, she lifts my eyes to see everyone and everything differently--better. We are diligently caring for her health and working her therapies while Guy and Josie got married, Emma and Simon got engaged, one of her nurses faced cancer treatments, Kendy, Beau and Neva homeschooled, and we have bore and celebrated life with our family and friends.

Before Wylie, the reality of life, the way it is, was not apparent to me. Now I do believe the descriptions about life we read in the Bible more and more--"a vapor," "a breath," "a fading flower," "like an evening after it has passed." The sturdiness of life on earth was an illusion. Now, I know the truth of it. Before now, the finite nature of life here may have caused panic, but now I am not afraid (most of the time). The days come in and out with so much gratitude.

I open my hands and receive. God gives. God takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.
